ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the value of combined 3D-constructive interference in steady state(3D-CISS) with phase-contrast MR(PC-MR) in diagnosis of hydrocephalus children. Methods We collected retrospectively 28 children with hydrocephalus who caused by obstructive membranes. They all underwent MR imaging examination with a 1.5 T consisting of 3D-CISS, conventional sequences and PC-MR.With the result of surgery and CT cisternography as gold standard,we analysised different sequence in the diagnosis of membranous obstruction. The results of obstructive were analysed by x2 test between 3D-CISS combined with PC-MR and conventional sequences. Results The study included 28 children, of whom 16 showed obstructive membranes in CSF pathways of ventricle and 12 displayed obstructive membranes in CSF pathways of cistern.Conventional sequences diagnosed obstructive membranes of 15 children, and obstructive membranes of 11 children were consistent with gold standard, and 4 cases were false positive. The 3D-CISS diagnosed obstructive membranes of 40, and 12 cases were false positive. There were significant difference between 3D-CISS combined with PC-MR and conventional sequence about obstructive membranes diagnosis of CSF pathways(x2=24.410, P=0.001).Conclusions Making use of jointing 3D-CISS sequence and PC-MR sequence successively, and we can diagnose the position of obstructive membrane for hydrocephalus, which can be helpful to select a perfect surgical approach.

ABSTRACT

T wave alternans in ECG is an important prediction factor for a sudden death. It is crucial in clinic to quantify the amplitude of T wave alternans. However, T wave alternans are highly non-stationary, which makes accurate quantification very difficult. In this study, we proposed a new method to improve the amplitude quantification. We identified T wave alternans by principal component analysis (PCA) with statistical test, and processed the principal components with T wave alternans further by imposing sparse constraint. We evaluated and compared our method against other 4 popular solutions on an international benchmark database. The results including rank correlation coefficient and relative error indicate that this sparse principal component (SPC) based method is better than others.

ABSTRACT

Motion artifacts are a main interference source of ambulatory physiology signals. The interference in wearable detection systems is more serious because of using dry electrodes. On account of the instantaneity in motion artifacts and periodicity in physiological signal, we presented a new method based on periodic component analysis for motion artifact reduction. The single channel signal is transformed into multi-channel signal with multi resolution analysis, and then periodic component analysis can help us to separate the normal physiological signal from motion artifacts. A case study in electrocardiogram (ECG) demonstrates that periodic component analysis is better than the empirical mode decomposition and adaptive filtering methods. Periodic component analysis as a time domain method can discriminate the signal with frequency aliasing, and recover the ECG waveform feature corrupted. This method can be easily extended to other physiological signal processing.

ABSTRACT

AIM: To evaluate the results of preservative free sodium hyaluronate and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) eye drops in the treatment of dry eyes after eye operation.·METHODS: One hundred and thirty two patients of dryeyes underwent 149 different eye surgeries. The Schirmer test Ⅰ and tear break up time (BUT) were performed prior to surgery and post operatively after 2 weeks and after 4 weeks when the patients were using Oflaxacine, Tobramycin-dexamethasone eye drops. In addition, preservative free sodium hyaluronate and bFGF eye drops were given post operatively. The antibiotic-cortisone eye drops were stopped after the requirted period depending on the type of eye surgery done, and preservative free sodium hyaluronate and bFGF eye drops were stopped after 4 weeks. Then, after 5 weeks Schirmer test Ⅰ and BUT were done.·RESULTS: The Schirmer test Ⅰ and BUT results prior to surgery and after eye surgery showed a statistically significant improvement of the dry eye condition.·CONCLUSION: Usage of preservative free sodium hysluronate and bFGF eye drops help definitely in the management of dry eye after ophthalmic surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective To research the precise location algorithm of onset and end of one wave for QRS in ECG. Methods During monitoring the ambulatory electrocardiograph (AECG),it was necessary to design new automatic analysis algorithms. The windows formed by filtering and integrating process could be considered as the fiducially mark. From the window, the apex of Q wave and S wave could be recognized. Results Introducing an auxiliary line from the apex,we could judge the boundary of the Q and S wave with the distance from ECG curve to the line. Conclusion Many cases studies inelicate that the algorithm is of low level locating error, about one sample point, and the accuracy of judgement of S wave boundary is raised obviously compared with the same kind of software in the world.

ABSTRACT

Helicobacter pylori(Hp) is an important pathogenic factor in chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric cancer. With the extensive use of broad-spectrum atibiotics in recent years, the antibiotic resistence of Hp was increasing, together with many side effets and low patient compliance,so the study of new anti-Hp drugs became a research hotspot.Domestic and foreign scholars had extracted active anti-Hp ingredients from the traditional Chinese drug curcuma, they hope to open a new way for the treatment of Hp infection. This paper was to make a brief overview on the study progress of effect of curcuma on anti-Hp.
